The #16Days of Activism 2022

To mark the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence and Human Rights Day 2022, Karama highlighted the successes and priorities of activists from across Africa and the Arab region.

While huge challenges to the rights and dignity of women and girls remain, activists have made important progress - and it is vital that we celebrate and learn from those successes.

The campaign noted the significant decrease in the number of child, forced and early marriages in the region - something driven by legal reforms and community-campaigning led by activism. It also drew attention to the link between conflict and increased risk of child, forced and early marriage.
