Libyan Women’s Platform for Peace featured in the Adaptive Peacebuilding Guidebook
The groundbreaking work of the Libyan Women's Platform for Peace (LWPP) has been explored in the Adaptive Peacebuilding Guidebook, published this month by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency.
The guidebook seeks to explore practical examples of ‘adaptive peacebuilding’, which views peacebuilding “not as a process of implementing predetermined plans or applying universal solutions, but as a process through which people learn, reflect, and adapt collectively in response to changing circumstances.”
The case study explores how LWPP sought to increase women’s participation and leadership in mediation efforts. The report’s authors note that LWPP’s work “reached appropriate stakeholders when necessary and contributed to enhancing resilience and self-organisation of the holistic system in Libya.”
