From Fatima Ahmed Ibrahim to the leaders of the 2019 revolution, Sudanese women have always been trailblazers. Karama has been honoured to support Sudanese activists on issues like legal reform, the women, peace and security agenda, and the ongoing peace process.

    One of Karama’s founding members, Samia El Hashmi has been working tirelessly to ensure that the law in Sudan protects women and girls, rather than discriminating against them. As a legal expert, she was appointed in the transition to pioneer legal reforms for women and trade unions.

    Kamilia worked with Karama on a project to build consensus and a shared platform for women across Sudan. That work expanded Kamilia’s network to parts of the country she had never worked before.

    When Zohra was displaced by the conflict in Sudan, she was able to apply her experience with the Wa’ed network to support girls around her. Through Wa’ed, she has been able to reach a global audience on issues important to her like climate change and SRHR.
