Karama is proud to announce the launch of the Wa’ed network for adolescent girls in Africa and the Arab region.

Taking its name from the promise and commitment made by the adolescent girls who founded the network, Wa’ed aims to provide safe space in which girls can connect with peers across the region, expanding their knowledge and building their advocacy skills.

Wa’ed aims to be a platform from which girls can contribute to and participate in regional and international processes in the region where decisions are made that affect them.

The network is a development from the Karama Initiative for Adolescent Girls, which has been running since 2019. That work identified the need for a specific network for its participants to develop and expand their activities and advocacy.

The Wa’ed network is a response to the many challenges that adolescent girls face in Africa and the Arab region, where they face discrimination against both their youth and their gender.
